Dark

  • Release: December 2017
  • Genre: Family drama, Mystery, Thriller
  • Synopsis:   The disappearance of two young children in the fictional town of Winden, Germany, leads to a frantic search among four interconnected families.

Dark is a complex German sci-fi thriller show that is about four interconnected families in the fictional town of Winden, Germany.

The lives of the people living there become entangled in a multi-generational time-travel conspiracy after a child’s disappearance unearths a wormhole in local caves, revealing fixed, deterministic time loops and bootstrap paradoxes across several timelines (1953, 1986, 2019, 2052).

The series, led by protagonist Jonas Kahnwald, explores fate vs. free will as characters try to break loops.

Moreover, the story introduces parallel worlds and reveals a massive, cyclical conflict between older versions of characters (Adam and Eva) who control the loops, all stemming from a singular event in an “Origin World” that needs to be broken to stop the cycle.
